Thanks to everyone who flagged up that the image I posted yesterday, entitled The cause of your vitiligo is probably on this chart, was too small to read. The causes of this skin condition are famously complex. So much so, that even a bigger vitiligo flow chart than this still would probably not have enough space.
The chart is not a definitive representation of the causes of vitiligo. The reality is more complicated still. But it certainly illustrates how many different factors may be involved in the disease process. And the likely involvement of the digestive system, in particular, is an eye-opener… Which makes sense of the fact that many of us have been able to halt or reverse our vitiligo using diet and nutrition.
This flow chart is a reminder that vitiligo is not “just a harmless skin condition”, as many may think.
For more background on the causes of vitiligo, from expert Dr John Harris, see his blog post on this subject.

Are you still there? Just to let you know that this is being useful for a Brazilian guy in 2023.
Yes Daniel – I’m still here! So glad to hear that you have found this information useful. 😃
Very good, especially that flowchart. I am also affected. How can you help me?
I can’t claim any credit for the flowchart as it was sent to me by a vitiligo friend. It is very good, isn’t it. It certainly illustrates the fact that vitiligo is a complicated, multifactorial condition. If you have read many of my blog posts you will probably already know that the key factor in my own recovery was nutrition and that a combination of supplementation and UV exposure triggered my repigmentation. Not everyone has the same success with this approach – probably because there are so many factors that vary from one individual to the next. But a significant number of people do get good results from replicating what I did. I have summarised exactly what I did on this page… Nutrition Summary Please feel free to email me via the Contact Page too. I will always do my best to help.
