Can Sesame Oil Help Vitiligo?

Sesame oil and sesame seeds

Reply to an unusual question from a vitiligo friend

This was my reply to an email about sesame oil as a possible way to help vitiligo. I would certainly not rule out its therapeutic value. But, in my experience, other nutritional supplements have a much better vitiligo success rate

Dear …

Many thanks for your blog comments.  It does sound as if we have both come to many of the same conclusions about vitiligo โ€“ in particular, that most doctors donโ€™t have a clue and that itโ€™s up to us to find our own best natural treatments.

Interesting that you should mention the copper content of sesame oil.  Itโ€™s the first time Iโ€™ve heard of sesame oil as a treatment for vitiligo.  I have recently been researching coconut oil in this context and notice that this is high in copper too.  As you know from my blog, I have almost completely re-pigmented but my hands and feet still have some way to go, so once the weather gets sunny here, Iโ€™m going to try it on those areas to see what results I get.  I also bought a magnetic copper wristband recently to see if that will help too.

I agree with you that sunshine is nothing to be frightened of, as long as you donโ€™t burn.  My belief is that the right nutrients, combined with sunshine, is the key to overcoming vitiligo โ€“ itโ€™s just a question of finding the nutrition that works for each individual.

Keep going for it โ€“ and good luck!
