Reply to an unusual question from a vitiligo friend
This was my reply to an email about sesame oil as a possible way to help vitiligo. I would certainly not rule out its therapeutic value. But, in my experience, other nutritional supplements have a much better vitiligo success rate
Dear …
Many thanks for your blog comments. It does sound as if we have both come to many of the same conclusions about vitiligo – in particular, that most doctors don’t have a clue and that it’s up to us to find our own best natural treatments.
Interesting that you should mention the copper content of sesame oil. It’s the first time I’ve heard of sesame oil as a treatment for vitiligo. I have recently been researching coconut oil in this context and notice that this is high in copper too. As you know from my blog, I have almost completely re-pigmented but my hands and feet still have some way to go, so once the weather gets sunny here, I’m going to try it on those areas to see what results I get. I also bought a magnetic copper wristband recently to see if that will help too.
I agree with you that sunshine is nothing to be frightened of, as long as you don’t burn. My belief is that the right nutrients, combined with sunshine, is the key to overcoming vitiligo – it’s just a question of finding the nutrition that works for each individual.
Keep going for it – and good luck!
