I wonder what happened to all the publicity about black pepper as a possible cure for vitiligo? There was a flurry of interest in this about 3 years ago, but not much since. Has anyone had any success with this, or indeed with any other spice (as opposed to herbs or nutritional supplements)? My journey to vitiligo success has been a long one involving a fair amount of trial and error. Along the way, I tried a Chinese herbal treatment which unfortunately caused me some severe burns when I exposed my skin to sunshine. One thing I remember about the concoction is that it smelled quite strongly of pepper and other spices. It makes me wonder if the use of other culinary seasonings for vitiligo treatment might have some track record of success too.

Hello..:) well I’m blending crushed organic peppercorns and sesame oil and applying it to my body before sunning. The sesame oil does have natural uv blocking properties, but the copper content is so high, thought I’d give it a shot. It’s only been one week since I’ve done this, so no results as of yet. I read a medical study where mice were repigmented with pepper oil an uv in about 6 weeks. Those are some lucky*ss mice…I’m not holding my breath…
It’s been a couple of months, and I thought I’d update you! Well, I have seen a little repigmenting…it seems to somewhat work! It’s actually funny, because I add crushed black pepper to a bottle of sesame oil, shake, and dip my pointer finger in to apply…guess where my pigment is coming back? On that very finger, haha! …and I have carefully applied it around my left eye, and color is returning! Even though those are the only two areas that are showing signs, it seems promising. I have lost close to 50% of pigment on my body…so I still have quite a journey ahead of me. I know it took a minimum of 3 months for study animals to repigment using piperine oil, so maybe I’ll see better results in another month!? ( fingers crossed ) I’ve also been reading about NGF, or nerve growth factor. Apparently this brings back melanin production too. I read a natural source was the Lion’s mane mushroom (or falling in love stimulates it too..stickin with the shrooms for now, haha) I might try buying this supplement and mix it with sesame oil to apply to my patches. I’m just a regular guinea pig…:-) Also, I plan to use Caroline’s protocol soon- wish me luck…
Just to clarify, the animal studies I read regarding piperine show that the addition of uv shortened the repigmentation time. It was like 6 weeks with addition of uv and close to 3 months without uv. I haven’t been able to sunbathe lately because of rain…might have somethin to do with it…
Hi Shannon,
Do you have any updates?
How are the results with black pepper?
In a couple of weeks I will try also.
Meanwhile I am taking a herbal tincture with reishi, gingko biloba and apply topical tincture made of bu gu zhi with 30sec-1 min of mild sun exposure. In about 6 months I gained around 40-50% pigment on my face.
I will update
Well I’ve read a couple of articles regarding NGF, and the peripheral nervous system regarding vit. They claim too much nerve growth factor in affected skin- since I don’t know what theory to believe..gonna stick with nutrition and supplements. Sheesh, vitiligo is so confounding!
Good for you, Shannon. All that any of us can do is to try different things – as long as they aren’t dangerous (which sesame oil and black pepper obviously aren’t!) It certainly seems to be the case that, whatever treatment you try, UV speeds up the results. Keep the updates coming, Shannon 🙂
one lady who had a vitiligo patch on her face completely repigmented and she became normal. I asked her to take 2 black pepper pods and crush and eat it. And expose to sunlight 10 min a day between 10 and 11 am. Took 8 months for full recovery.
Hi,
I was to a chinese clinic for a consultation. They gave me chinese plants to make at home as a decocotion (11 plants). I must take twice a day plus topical treatment consisting of Bu Gu Zhi (chinese plant). I have only 2 weeks and unfortunately in this time there is no sun, so I applied only 2 times the tincture of Bu Gu Zhi.
Another interesting topical treatment is Black seed oil. Please read this article: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4102993/
I’m going to apply black seed oil also, although the women from the clinic did not tell me about black seed oil.
Thanks for that information, Victor. Goodluck with your treatment – do let us know how it goes!
