A safe gel that can definitely help to re-pigment the skin
I never used to have much faith in topical vitiligo treatments because my successful re-pigmentation has been based on a nutritional approach. So it was a case of healing from the inside out, rather than from the outside in. However, there is one gel product I can vouch for personally as being safe and effective, in fact it is the only topical vitiligo treatment I recommend from personal experience. Vitix Gel and is different from other products I have come across in several important ways.
Most topical treatments I had heard of previously seek to do one of two things. Either to calm inflammation using steroids or else purposely to irritate the skin by increasing its sensitivity to UV light. Both approaches can be effective, up to a point. They can either temporarily halt the progress of de-pigmentation or stimulate new pigment. But they both involve the risk of side effects. And neither one is suitable for long-term use or for the treatment of children.
What is so special about Vitix?
Vitix, on the other hand, contains no steroids or photosensitising ingredients. And its makers have successfully tested it for use with children as young as three years old. The active ingredients in this gel are antioxidant-dense plant extracts. These are clinically proven to reduce the excess hydrogen peroxide typically present in vitiliginous skin by increasing catalase levels. And this, in turn, helps to normalise the production of melanin.
It is not a miracle cure. (But then neither is anything else, when it comes to vitiligo.) And it won’t work overnight. But I can personally vouch for the fact that it can, and does, help to restore lost pigment in as little as a couple of weeks.
My own experience of using it actually came several years after my initial re-pigmentation. I decided to give Vitix a try when I suffered a bit of a setback after staying out in the sun for far too long on holiday. My mistake led to quite bad sun burn on the bony part of my chest. This caused my pigment to become very patchy, with some areas fading away and others becoming over-pigmented.
It is the only time in the course of my recovery from vitiligo that I have ever suffered a relapse. And I was keen to reverse the damage as fast as possible. So I applied Vitix for several weeks, making sure I only took moderate amounts of sun. And the results were impressive. The before and after photos I took at the time (see the top of this blog) show the difference after just two weeks.
Vitix is available for delivery worldwide from Vitiligo Store and from the main UK distributor and further details can also be found on both sites.
