10 coconut tips for vitiligo

A coconut

This time I’ve really gone nuts…

… coconuts, that is! I have become a real nut about coconut oil as perhaps the most versatile, healthy, cost effective and generally beneficial product on the planet. Even if you don’t have vitiligo I would highly recommend you give coconut oil a try. These are my top 10 coconut tips for vitiligo… Or just for your health and your bank balance. Read on to see why I have started to substitute coconut oil for some of the other products I use every day.

  1.          Antioxidant moisturiser for face, body and hands.
  2.          Pure, safe and natural (choose an organic virgin oil) with no additives.
  3.          Ideal for sensitive and dry skins – protects, moisturises and nourishes.
  4.          Gentle makeup remover (even for waterproof mascara).
  5.          Effective scalp and hair treatment when used before washing hair.
  6.          Hair-smoothing serum for dry or frizzy hair (apply very small amount).
  7.          Nutritious as a cooking oil (easily digested and cholesterol free).
  8.          Strong evidence to show regular consumption can fight Alzheimer’s.
  9.          Very good value for money because a little goes a very long way!

And number 10 is…

Even better than all of the above is the fact that it is the main ingredient in most of the topical natural vitiligo treatments on the market yet costs a fraction of the price.

In my previous post I referred to the fact that vitiligo sufferers are more sensitive to the phenolic chemicals that are found in most personal care and beauty products, resulting in a worsening of their condition. I also know from my own experience that antioxidant nutrition plays a huge role in re-pigmenting vitiliginous skin. So I have now replaced a whole host of expensive high street toiletries, as well as cooking oils and spreads, with just one product – coconut oil – and de-cluttered my cupboards and shelves into the bargain!

Thanks for your comment - I look forward to reading and publishing it!
