Finally… delivering to the European Union again
In part 1of this update I mentioned some of the obstacles we encountered over the past few years that prevented us from supplying our vitiligo solutions to certain overseas destinations… Specifically, these involved two factors – rising costs, and political and administrative barriers between countries. To recap part 1 (but without going over the same boring background again here), I was able to pass on some long-awaited good news from Vitiligo Store. Thanks to a closer partnership with Xenca, the makers of our nutritional supplements, customers now get:
- lower product prices,
- and – for customers in the US – an ongoing discount. (This more than compensates for tariffs currently being added to goods purchased from the UK.)
The third item of good news that I have been looking forward to sharing is the fact that we are now, finally, able to ship to the European Union. And I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my good friends at Xenca for making this happen. It hasn’t been cheap or easy for them to tackle the red tape and technical difficulties involved. But the last hurdle has been cleared. Meaning that anyone living in the EU can, once again, get hold of our nutritional supplements… The same ones I used in my own vitiligo recovery.
The obstacle… and the solution
The situation blocking delivery to the EU was, of course, Brexit. I am not a political animal. My interest is in helping people with vitiligo research their condition and improve their quality of life. So I am not saying whether Brexit was a good thing or a bad one. But it certainly had some unwanted repercussions for many of my European friends. Because it suddenly put the nutritional supplements they were using to support their vitiligo out of reach.
The customs regulations that came into force as a result of the UK formally leaving the European Union in 2020 made it virtually impossible for small businesses like Vitiligo Store (and Xenca, who supply and ship the supplements) to continue trading across European borders. So, sadly, we had to turn away orders from all customers living in EU countries. Meaning that many Europeans have been unable for the past six years, or so, to get hold of the products that had become an important part of their vitiligo recovery and maintenance.
We all hoped that this situation might change, given time, and that the kind of free trade the UK and EU used to enjoy would resume. But that hasn’t happened yet. So Xenca, in collaboration with Vitiligo Store, finally decided it was time to take on the complex and costly requirements for trading across European borders. And the result is that customers in European Union countries can now buy Boost, Five a Day, Collagen and any other Xenca product as easily as they did before Brexit (with just one small caveat*)… Simply by going to buyxenca.com or clicking through on the links provided on vitiligostore.com.
A final word
If you are familiar with my blog, you will know that I like to explore anything and everything to do with vitiligo… Its features, causes and effects, as well as tips, personal experiences, public awareness stories and updates on vitiligo research and treatments. So this has not been a typical post. More a news flash, really.
But it excites me to know that the three good news stories I have outlined in this two part-er (lower prices overall, US tariff-busting discounts and a return to the EU marketplace) will mean easier and more affordable access to a nutritional vitiligo protocol that was, for me, an absolute game changer.
